Eating With The Ancestors - Jane Tingle

Whilst clearing her late parents house, Jane Tingle came across three handwritten recipe books written by her great-grandmothers - and discovered that one of them worked as a servant at the Old Vicarage in Huttons Ambo.

Jane is working her way through the recipe books, cooking each recipe in turn and blogging about it on

Why not pop over to Jane's blog and read about her Great Grandmother Harriet's recipes for tea cakes and  Victoria buns.

Jane has since discovered that her great-grandfather, Alfred Farmery, was also living in Low Hutton in 1901, lodging with the Robson family (Joseph, Grace, daughter Mary and grand-daughter Grace Johnson) and another lodger, William Griceworth.

If anyone in the village has connections to any of these families and might know which house they lived in, please get in touch with Jane.
