Huttons Ambo Good Neighbours

Huttons Ambo Good Neighbours

Our volunteers will offer residents of High and Low Hutton help with this kind of activity :

•          household tasks such as changing a lightbulb

•          minor repairs

•          picking up prescriptions

•          running errands

•          reading to anyone with vision difficulties

•          letter writing

•          arranging a ride to shops or doctors

•          simple computer help

•          form filling

•          or just company for a while

For those unable to use the bus, transport requests will be referred to the Ryecat scheme with whom we have an arrangement

Shopping can also be undertaken - starting at Herbie’s but using Malton’s shops and services if Herbie cannot help

Dog walking/Pet feeding – we will refer on to our very competent local dog walker

How It Works

The service will be available 9:00am to 6:00pm every day Monday to Sunday

Telephone number  07936 431 368  will link you to the duty volunteer who will take your call and make arrangements for a volunteer to complete the required task for you.

This assistance will be freely available to anyone in the community, young or old, who needs a helping hand.

It is our particular aim to help our older residents live in their homes more confidently, to feel more connected to their neighbours and to reduce their need for health care services as a result.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL THE NUMBER IF YOU REQUIRE ANY MORE INFOMATION

Good Neighbours scheme volunteer co-ordinators are supported by Rural Action Yorkshire (RAY).

Kirkham Weir and Sluice update

Kirkham Weir and Sluice update

Since the last blog on this subject (on 15 February), we have received a list of the options for the weir and sluice and a couple of sets of meeting notes (notes-1, notes-2) from the Environment Agency. Based on your comments, I sent the attached response (link). If you would like to discuss any of this or if you have any views which you don’t think have been taken into account so far, please contact me at Ambo Cottage (High Hutton), 696070, c/o parishclerk@huttonsambo.com. I have been asked to pass on any further comments as soon as possible so that EA’s consultants are able to include them in their appraisal of the options.

There will be a final meeting of the ‘engagement group’ later in April, where EA’s consultants will present the outcome of the options appraisal and their final recommendation(s) and give us the opportunity for final comments.

Notes from the bulletin - March 2015

The Youth Club will begin a pilot set of Glee Club sessions in April for youth club members and other village youngsters with some funding support from Ryedale Stronger Communities Programme.

Would your child like the chance to sing, have fun and make some music with friends in the village?
Then why not bring them along to Hutton’s Ambo Glee Club!

Over the six week programme we will be making music using a variety of instruments, listening to music, singing, performing, exploring all sorts of musical things from Rap to Samba and generally having some creative fun!

Led by Ruth Hannah (a primary music specialist) and supported by local Youth Club leaders the six Friday evening sessions will run from 7.00 – 8.30 pm on 8th 15th 22nd 29th April and 6th and 13th May.

The cost will be £2.50 per child per session (£15 in total) payable in advance.
Places are limited and you will be required to sign up for all 6 sessions and pay in advance.

Current Youth Club members have priority but all places need to be filled to make the project viable so please sign up before the March 7th.
